About Kay-Gee 1824
kaygee1824.jpg

When Will and Caner Swann decided to dissolve their partnership they divided the equipment between them. Will Swann got one of the steam engines and separators. This engine is seen in the old wheat threshing pictures. (The opening shots of the second part of the film are of this engine and I believe that the other old movie footage used in other places of the film are of this engine as well.) Will Swann's engine was also a 22 horsepower Keck-Gonnerman; however, it was a single cylinder engine. If I were giving it a name it would be Kay-Gee 1824 after its boiler number.

In the picture above, James Redfern is standing in front of the rear wheel and Joe Couts is standing behind it. The two boys on the engine are probably Jimmy and Robert Couts. This picture came from home movie footage came from Mary Ruth Trumphour's memorabilia and is used by permission.

Kay-Gee 1824 is currently being restored.
