Bibliography

The bibliography shown here omits all the informal conversations I've had over the years where folks share bits and peices of information. There is no way to document this but each exchange has helped me learn more about steam engines and how they were used.

Anatomy of an Antique Traction Engine Boiler (Locomotive Style). Visited on February 17, 2003.

There is an old boiler located at Threshermen's Park in Booneville, Indiana. It has had large holes cut into it so it can stand as a static display showing how these boilers were constructed. This page features several pictures of this display with the parts of the boiler identified and captions explaining what all the parts were for.

The Case Corporation Storybook. Visited on January 24, 2002. CaseIH Corporation. (www.casecorp.com/corporate/storybook/)

The site has been taken offline since I visited it. It was a wonderful online history of the Case Corporation. Case was one of the largest manufacturers of steam traction engines and they still make tractors and agricultural implements today. The company history that is currently available on their web site is one page long and does not compare to the information they once had available.
