Miyasaki (April 29, 1945)

The mission today was Migayaki Air Field on the southern coast of Kyushu. We really hit the target. No fighters and little flack. Take off: 0:45, Land: 14:14.

— Joe Caner Swann

As with many missions of this phase of the war, a large force of aircraft sent out but small groups went to small targets. On this particular mission 21 bombers attacked the Miyasaki Airfield around 9:00 am. They flew at 15,400-16,000 feet.

The bombers carried a load of 12,000 lbs. and encountered little cloud cover over the target. Results were excellent. Both runways had twelve direct hits between them and several aircraft on the ground were destroyed.

There was no fighter opposition and some antiaircraft fire. All aircraft returned safely.
